Rising & Falling (Cupidity)
He knows quality when he sees it,
And right now he’s looking at me:
Dangling like a chandelier above him,
I’m clutching my very own pearls!
He’s luminant with something other than ecstasy,
I’m smiling ‘cause I’ve never seen anything like him.
Softly: that’s how I fall along the sinews of his chest –
One-two-three like I’m tonguing a diamond,
Four-five-six with my fist full of riches.
And he knows he has something of value,
So I keep myself rare for him.
Shining very secretly over the city and its impurities,
I wait by the phone in my tender white dress.
He’s calling to say that he’s coming to see me,
I’m smiling ‘cause I know what that means.
Here in my bed, he can have me:
One-two-three ‘cause my markets are volatile,
Four-five-six and he’s trading me privately.
Our bodies: they speak the same language,
And we always let them negotiate.
My value appreciates, and appreciates, and appreciates
His rising and falling – such divine fluctuations!
He’s watching as he brings me up to the brim,
And I come trembling back down, diamond-eyes full of him.
Easily: that’s how I’m earning his interest –
One-two-three like I’m a volatile asset,
Four-five-six ‘cause I’m slick where it fits.
